Tantra: the Science of Self-exploration
Written by admin on February 21st, 2009What is Tantra? The word Tantra is increasingly familiar, as an accepted practice by celebrities such as Sting, Woody Harrelson and Scarlett Johanssen, to name a few, and as an exotic, a little laughter to sex, as shown in the film and Television - from "American Pie''a''Conozca to Fokkers''a''Sex and the City.''Sting's famous assertion that he and his wife, Trudy, make love for seven hours created a stir at a stretch, but his subsequent explanation that this includes dinner and a movie, and his most recent statement that Tantra is to experience the sacred through the relationship, attracted much less attention.
The general public seems to have a vague sense that it has something to do with the tantric sex, while those with a little knowledge is more likely to think of it as a sexual form of yoga. Former impression, however limited, is much closer to the truth, but Tantra is a big issue and it is not an easy term to define. We hope this will provide an overview of dismantling many of the misconceptions that have developed on this remarkable spiritual journey.
Many people who attend our workshops to give voice to introduce popular stereotypes and answers that is something that celebrities, who are better sex and love marathon sessions. Others suggest that it is a way of bringing spirituality to sex, as if the two were separated. As Westerners and products of our culture, we can not avoid the influence of this popular myth, but in our practice and study, we strive to reach a deeper understanding and, hopefully, a more authentic.
myth that Tantra is primarily sexual, whether at home or scandalous scandal of the 19th century accounts of tantric rituals. In the early 20 century, Sir John Woodroffe, also known as Arthur Avalon, a British judge serving in India and start a Tantric himself, sought to legitimize the tradition as part of an effort in favor of independence for celebrate the Indian civilization; Avalon was one of the few Westerners who participate in this effort, which included a number of influential upper-class Indians. Avalon and his circle emphasized the sexual aspects of Tantra, as these issues remains a scandal, much of the general public and perhaps Avalon itself, although there is some evidence that he and his wife have sex Tantric together.
Currently, mayoría''Nueva Era''Tantrists have adopted the approach and focus on sexuality to the exclusion of almost everything else, we have even heard Tantra defined as' 'sacred sexuality.'' In many cases, professionals in the New Age blend aspects of Hindu tantra, Tibetan Buddhist Tantra, Taoism and Western psychotherapy - among others - and invent something that has virtually no relation to the original tradition. As a result, most people contact us who believe that Tantra and Tantric sex are synonymous, and that tantric sex is synonymous with extraordinary sexual ability, with some clearing work emocional''''tirado in a largely and should last for hours.
We believe it is unfortunate that this rich and complex tradition has been reduced to so banal and simple stereotype. At the same time, we are drawn to tantric sex because of its aspects, and we are convinced that consciously exploring sexuality is a rich and meaningful career. It can function as a gateway in a form of experience or being in the world that can actually be described as Tantric. Therefore, we hope to find a balance between rigor and without sight of the many modern scholars and traditionalists who despedir''Nueva Era''tantrismo with contempt, and popularizers, who preach the gospel of tantric sex, but have virtually no familiarity with its history and, moreover, have not been initiated into a traditional lineage.
may be clear that Tantra is a confusing and even paradoxical theme, and with this in mind, we offer the following, hoping that will give you some new ways of thinking about meaning of the word Tantra.
Tantra is an ancient tradition that recognizes sexual energy as a source of personal and spiritual empowerment. This is unlike most Western traditions and helps explain why most Westerners have reduced their sexual elements alone.
Tantra is the magic of transformation of consciousness and thus a transformation of the whole being. Your body is the most powerful instrument for achieving this transformation.
Tantra is a spiritual science. Tantric techniques have been tested and have proved effective over many centuries. If the practice diligently, you will experience results.
Tantra can be quite simple. Everyone has Tantric experience is not always so simple to notice them.
Tantra can be accepted in whole or in part. Some simple practices can often produce profound results. Tantra is
Goals, unless the exploration and expansion of consciousness can be called a goal. Goal orientation is one of the biggest obstacles facing aspiring Tantrika; the abandonment of specific goals and focus on what you are doing now, with so much awareness as we can achieve, are the keys to effective practice.
Tantra is a way of life. The focus of the exploration of their own conscience Tantric is always an evolving process of discovery that is clear from the daily practice. Tantra
can provide the means to deepen their sense of connection to you, your partner, all that is. Tantra includes
practices which, while often simple, can lead to the extraordinary experience of ecstasy.
Tantra is a technology of the mind and body to get to know you deeply.
Tantra is for people de''''temperamento heroic, and presumably healthy. Anyone interested in practicing Tantra should have done considerable work on himself before starting on the road. Traditionally, this type of work often included many years of study and practice yogic for Westerners, psychotherapy may be the best form of preparation for Tantric serious study, as it provides the student with many of the tools necessary for self exploration is a central part of Tantra. Our teacher, Dr. Jonn Mumford has written:''In the West, we have a kind of psychotherapy called Yoga is one of the most valuable assets that Western civilization has produced.''Going to bring anyone with a serious interest the experience of yoga to psychotherapy. The same applies to Tantra, but we believe it is important not to mix the two, as the approaches are so radically different.
Tantra is a pragmatic way to loosen the bonds of unconscious, habitual behavior and thus begin to live more freely and fully.
Tantra is becoming a discipline in itself completely. In the end, there is nothing at all to do. Tantra is pragmatic, not moralistic. You can use the tools are at hand in order to expand consciousness.
In short, a way of defining the Tantra, ie it is: the science of self-exploration.
